About our Portable Lamps

Cordless Lamps: Rechargeable, Portable and Battery Powered

A portable lamp gives you good-looking light without a cord or a power point. Every lamp in this collection is a cordless, rechargeable table lamp with a built-in battery: charge it, then put it wherever you want soft light, from the bedside table to the dining table, bookshelf or balcony. No disposable batteries and no cables to hide.

Wireless Lamps That Go Where You Are

Because they're wireless, you can move the light to where you are: a rechargeable table lamp on the dining table at dinner, then on the bedside table at night. Cordless lamps are also the easy answer for rentals, apartments and rooms where the power point is in the wrong place, and they look great in pairs on a dining table or sideboard. Ambient Light, Not a Reading Lamp

Our portable lamps are designed for soft, ambient mood lighting rather than focused task light. If you need a lamp for reading or working, look at a plug-in design such as the Pisano or Bremen in our table lamp collection.

Cordless Lamp FAQs

What's the difference between a cordless lamp, a battery lamp and a rechargeable lamp? In our range they're the same thing: a built-in rechargeable battery, so you never need to buy disposable batteries.

How long does the battery last? Up to 12 hours per charge on the lowest brightness setting, with shorter run times at higher brightness. Rechargeable Lamps: What Battery Life Really Means explains how brightness affects run time.

Can I use a portable lamp outside? Yes, for an evening on a covered balcony, patio or courtyard, but they aren't water-resistant, so keep them out of the rain and bring them back inside afterwards. See Portable Lamps for Outdoor Evenings for ideas.

Are they bright enough to read by? They're designed to create atmosphere rather than light a page, so they're better for mood lighting than reading fine print.

Many of our portable lamps are also mushroom lamps; see the full mushroom lamp collection. Shopping for the bedroom? See our bedside lamps.
