A pyramid-shaped paper lamp for a bold, calm glow

The Kyusei is the widest of our tabletop paper lamps: 42cm tall with a 30cm diameter and stacked, tiered rice paper that gives it a pyramid-like silhouette. Switched off it's a sculptural object; switched on, the shade turns one E26/E27 LED bulb into a warm, moody glow that suits living rooms and bedrooms after dark.

Where a pyramid paper lamp fits

It runs on a 135cm cord, so there's flexibility on placement. The Kyusei is inspired by the Akari paper lamps of Isamu Noguchi and is Lamp Boy's own design, not affiliated with Noguchi, Vitra or Ozeki.

Pyramid lamp or round lantern?

A pyramid-shaped paper lamp puts more of its visual weight near the base, so it looks grounded and deliberate on a sideboard, console or wide side table. The Kyusei's 30cm base and stepped tiers give it a sculptural outline that holds its own next to art and objects, while the paper keeps the light soft. A round lantern, by contrast, feels lighter and more organic. If you want both, the Kyusei pairs well with the rounded Hachi: similar heights, contrasting shapes, and the same warm, diffused rice paper glow. Use a warm white E26/E27 LED bulb for the most calming effect.
